• Is Harpers Ferry Park Association a part of the National Park Service?

HFPA is the official cooperating association of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. We have an agreement with the National Park Service to support the park’s interpretive and educational programs through our fundraising efforts. As an NPS partner, we work closely with the park on events and programs.

  • What’s the difference between an association and concessioners?

Concessioners are private companies that work within the National Parks to provide services ranging from food service and lodging, to whitewater rafting adventures and motor coach tours. Associations support the interpretive and educational programs of the park service through fundraising and the sales of books and other theme-related items.

  • How does a cooperating association help the National Park Service?

Through Bookshop sales, fund raising, and membership programs these nonprofit organizations support park programs and projects that are not readily achievable through the use of federal funds and personnel.

  • Do you sell passport books? Where can I get them stamped?

We sell passport books at the Bookshop in Lower Town. These can be stamped at the Bookshop.

  • What discounts do you offer?

The Harpers Ferry Park Association offers a discount through association memberships. This includes memberships for other national park cooperating associations. We do not offer discounts for AARP, AAA, the military, teachers, students or park passes.

  • How do I apply for a job with HFPA?

You can apply for a job with the Harpers Ferry Park Association by either picking up an application in the Bookshop or applying online here.

  • How do I volunteer to help?

You can volunteer by calling the Association at 304.535.6881 or by applying online at here

  • Do you offer tours of Harpers Ferry?

HFPA, in partnership with the National Park Service, provides a comprehensive 2 ½ hour tour of Harpers Ferry with a Certified Park Guide. Tours can be modified to meet the visitor’s specific needs. Visit our tour page for more information.

  • Do you offer driving tours of Harpers Ferry?

The geography of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park does not allow for an adequate “driving tour.” Many of the locations of historical significance within the 4,000 acre park are in the Lower Town, which is a 19th century village with cobbled (and sometimes steep) streets and sidewalks. The rest of the park comprises battlefields and over 20 miles of hiking trails. Our Certified Park Guide Tours take your vehicle to three locations within the park, but at each stop you exit the vehicle and walk to different areas.

  • I’m researching my family history. Do you keep any family records or photographs?

No, we do not keep records of family history. Please visit the local library's website. You can also contact the Jefferson County Historical Society.

  • I have a Harpers Ferry gun. Can you tell me more about it?

  • I saw an item in your shop and didn’t pick it up. Do you ship?
